What should Christians believe about aliens? We’ve all seen it on the news. UFOs, UAPs, non-human intelligence, and mystery orbs flying over U.S. airspace. How should Christians navigate these topics while holding to a biblical foundation? Comments from filmmaker Steven Spielberg who directed the recent film Disclosure Day even suggested that supposed alien disclosure could lead many people to rethink some of their religious assumptions. But there are answers. Good answers. They don’t stem from government disclosures or whistleblowers. They come from the Bible. And we give the answers to you. Twelve Things We Believe About UFOs, UAPs, and Non-Human Intelligences

Let’s first lay out our 12 key positions on this controversial topic:

1. Scripture is our final authority. The Bible is the inspired, infallible, and sufficient Word of God and therefore serves as the ultimate standard by which all claims concerning UFOs, extraterrestrials, non-human intelligences, and spiritual topics must be evaluated.

2. Jesus Christ remains central. The ultimate question confronting humanity is not whether extraterrestrial life exists but whether Jesus Christ is Lord. Whatever mysteries may remain concerning UFOs, UAPs, or non-human intelligences, the Christian’s hope rests securely in the life, death, resurrection, and reign of Jesus Christ, through whom and for whom all things were created, whether visible or invisible (Colossians 1:16–17).

3. Unidentified does not mean extraterrestrial. The existence of unidentified anomalous phenomena does not automatically establish the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations. “Unidentified” simply means that a satisfactory explanation has not yet been determined.

4. Christians should pursue discernment rather than sensationalism. Believers are called to neither gullibility nor cynicism. We should examine extraordinary claims carefully, test them using Scripture, and exercise wisdom and restraint in our conclusions.

5. The Bible affirms the existence of non-human intelligences. Scripture clearly teaches the existence of angels and demons and presents a worldview in which spiritual realities coexist with the material world. Therefore, Christians should not dismiss spiritual explanations merely because contemporary culture favors exclusively naturalistic interpretations.
6. Testimony is not the same as evidence. Statements made by government officials, military personnel, intelligence officers, or whistleblowers may warrant investigation, but testimony concerning evidence should not be confused with the evidence itself. Extraordinary claims require examination and corroboration.
7. Historical reports should be interpreted carefully. Accounts of heavenly beings, unusual aerial phenomena, and extraordinary encounters have appeared throughout human history. However, these reports often reflect the cultural assumptions of those experiencing them. Consequently, Christians should avoid both anachronistically imposing extraterrestrial explanations upon ancient accounts and dismissing them outright.
8. Christians should exercise charity concerning disputed interpretations of Scripture. While Genesis Apologetics holds to the fallen angel-hybrid interpretation of Genesis 6,[i] we recognize and respect that other sincere, Bible-believing Christians may disagree and instead hold to different views. While we believe that holding to the fallen angel-hybrid position on Genesis 6 may be key to understanding what is occurring today with similar topics, we encourage humility and study rather than division among believers.
9. Christians are not called to seek contact with spiritual beings. The reality of spiritual warfare does not authorize believers to pursue paranormal experiences, attempt communication with non-human entities, or seek hidden knowledge through occult means. Scripture instead calls Christians to resist deception, test the spirits, and remain dependent upon Christ.
10. Modern claims must not govern biblical interpretation. Christians must resist the temptation to read into Scripture the contemporary disclosure narratives, government reports, or extraordinary experiences. The biblical text must interpret modern claims rather than modern claims reinterpret the text. We should refrain from stretching Scripture beyond what it plainly teaches.
11. The recent increase in UFO media-hype, reporting, and government disclosures/whistleblowers is not by chance, and this heightens the importance of developing a biblical Christian response. The resurgence of these topics from 2017 to the present is widespread and it’s reasonable (and to some, quite obvious) to conclude that this phenomenon is connected to widespread anti-Christian agenda and/or end-time events, or both.[ii]
12. The demonic connection and association with the UFO/alien topic are both overlooked by most Christians and suppressed by the mainstream. How many Christians today are aware that more than 400 individuals have testified that alleged alien encounters or abduction experiences were interrupted or ended after they invoked Jesus in faith and prayer?^[iii] Not only does the mainstream fail to report on such phenomena, there are examples of such media-wide disclosures being censored.[iv]

The recent increase in UFO media-hype, reporting, and government disclosures/whistleblowers is not by chance, and this heightens the importance of developing a biblical Christian response. From 2017 to the present the resurgence of these topics is widespread and it’s reasonable (and to some, quite obvious) to conclude that this phenomenon is connected to widespread anti-Christian agenda and/or end-time events, or both.[v]

The modern UFO phenomenon has become one of the most widely discussed and controversial subjects of the twenty-first century. Government investigations, military reports, media coverage, scientific speculation, and popular culture have all contributed to renewed public interest in the possibility of extraterrestrial life and non-human intelligences. As these discussions continue to expand, Christians are increasingly confronted with questions concerning aliens, unidentified anomalous phenomena, and the implications such claims may have for biblical theology.

This book has argued that Christians must approach these subjects through the authority and sufficiency of Scripture rather than through speculation, sensationalism, or cultural assumptions. While unusual phenomena may exist and deserve careful investigation, the interpretation of such phenomena must be governed by God’s revealed Word. Scripture provides the foundational truths necessary to understand creation, humanity, the spiritual realm, redemption, and the nature of reality itself.

The biblical worldview affirms that humanity occupies a unique place within God’s creation as image-bearers descended from Adam and redeemable through Jesus Christ and that Jesus Christ took on human flesh to redeem humans alone. Scripture further reveals the existence of intelligent non-human beings in the form of angels and demons and repeatedly warns about spiritual deception. These biblical categories must remain central when Christians evaluate claims involving non-human intelligences, extraordinary experiences, or alleged encounters with unknown entities.

At the same time, believers must exercise humility regarding matters that Scripture does not explicitly address. The Bible does not provide definitive answers to every question raised by modern UFO reports. Christians therefore should avoid dogmatic conclusions that extend beyond biblical revelation. We must distinguish carefully between established doctrine, theological inference, and personal speculation, remembering that God’s Word—not human curiosity—defines the boundaries of Christian belief.

Furthermore, Christians should recognize that many contemporary UFO narratives function as more than scientific hypotheses. Increasingly, the UFO movement offers explanations of humanity’s origin, purpose, future destiny, and salvation, thus acting in a religious role. In many cases, these narratives promote spiritual beliefs that directly contradict biblical Christianity by diminishing the uniqueness of Christ, redefining sin, promoting self-deification, or encouraging alternative sources of revelation. For this reason, the UFO phenomenon should be evaluated not merely as a scientific or political issue but also as a theological and spiritual one.

The Christian response must therefore be characterized by discernment, sobriety, and confidence in Christ. We should neither embrace every extraordinary claim uncritically nor dismiss legitimate questions without investigation. Instead, believers are called to test all things by Scripture, exercise wisdom, and remain grounded in the truth of God’s Word.

Ultimately, the central question facing humanity is not whether intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe. The central question is the same one that has confronted every generation: Who is Jesus Christ?

The Bible’s message is not that salvation comes through advanced civilizations, hidden knowledge, cosmic enlightenment, government disclosure, or contact with higher beings. The Gospel declares that sinful humanity is reconciled to God through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ alone. Whatever mysteries may remain concerning unexplained phenomena, extraterrestrial speculation, or the unseen realm, the believer’s hope rests securely in the risen Christ who reigns over all creation.

As the Apostle Paul declares, “¹⁶ For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. ¹⁷ And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16–17).

Therefore, Christians should approach the UFO question not with fear, fascination, or obsession, but with biblical discernment, theological humility, and unwavering confidence in the Lordship of Jesus Christ, who is sovereign over every power, every mystery, every realm, and every corner of His creation.

Applying our Biblical Framework to Trending UFO/UAP/Alien Topics that are Both in the News and Covered at House Oversight Subcommittee Hearings 

The following topics have been covered from 2022 forward in both the mainstream news and Congressional/Senate/House Hearings and/or referenced by U.S. officials:

1. Advanced man-made aerial vehicles that defy conventional flight physics that were developed by unofficial government programs and/or private corporations.[vi]
2. Advanced aerial vehicles that defy conventional flight physics of unknown origins.[vii]
3. Government-recovered non-human engineered aerial craft.[viii]
4. Non-human engineered aerial craft “reverse-engineering” programs operated by unofficial government and/or private corporations.[ix]
5. Government possession of “non-human alien biologics.”[x]
6. Non-human “alien”-human experimentation or hybridization.[xi]

Are the first five extreme claims possible given the biblical Worldview we’ve outlined in this book? The foundation we laid above clearly supports the inter-dimensional (as contrasted from inter-terrestrial) beings (i.e., angels or demons) interacting with humans. It is also possible for inter-dimensional beings to:

• Take on bodily forms (e.g., Genesis 18–19) – Angels appear as men, eat with Abraham, and later visit Lot;
• Defy the known laws of physics (e.g., John 20:12; Acts 12:7–10) – angels appear inside Jesus’ tomb; an angel enters a locked prison and then vanishes; and
• Possibly travel in aerial craft (e.g., 2 Kings 6:17; Ezekiel 1:16–18) – Elisha’s servant sees the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire; “The appearance of the wheels and their construction was like the gleaming of beryl . . . and their rims were full of eyes all around.”

An additional consideration should be noted when evaluating claims involving alleged non-human technologies or advanced knowledge. Scripture repeatedly warns that spiritual deception often involves the communication of forbidden or misleading knowledge. From Eden onward, deception has frequently been accompanied by the promise of hidden wisdom, enlightenment, or power beyond the boundaries established by God (Genesis 3:1–6). Throughout Israel’s history, God expressly prohibited practices such as divination, sorcery, spiritism, and consultation with mediums (Deuteronomy 18:10–12), suggesting that genuine spiritual realities may at times lie behind such practices, even while their pursuit remains sinful. Likewise, the New Testament acknowledges the existence of deceptive signs and wonders associated with demonic activity (2 Thessalonians 2:9–10; Revelation 16:13–14). In Acts 16:16–18, Paul encountered a slave girl possessed by “a spirit of divination” who was able to provide information through occult means, demonstrating that spiritual deception may at times involve the communication of otherwise inaccessible knowledge. While Scripture does not explicitly teach that fallen spiritual beings impart technological knowledge to humanity, Christians should not dismiss the possibility that deceptive spiritual influences may seek to shape human thought and behavior through the promise of secret wisdom, hidden knowledge, or extraordinary power.

While Scripture does not explicitly teach that fallen spiritual beings have imparted technological knowledge to humanity, some Christians have observed that both biblical and extra-biblical traditions contain references to forbidden knowledge associated with rebellion against God. Consequently, if contemporary claims concerning non-human intelligences were ever substantiated, Christians should not assume that advanced knowledge necessarily implies benevolent intentions or extraterrestrial origins. The biblical worldview recognizes the possibility that deceptive spiritual forces may seek to influence human thought and behavior through means that appear impressive, enlightening, or technologically superior. Nevertheless, because Scripture does not directly address modern claims involving advanced technologies allegedly derived from non-human sources, believers should approach such matters with caution, avoiding both unwarranted certainty and dismissive skepticism. Any purported knowledge, regardless of its source or sophistication, must ultimately be evaluated according to the truth of God’s Word.

What about the sixth claim on the list above? The possibility of “Non-human/alien-human experimentation or hybridization”?

Genesis Apologetics holds to the fallen angel interpretation of Genesis 6:1–4. Within this framework, the passages in Genesis 6, Jude 6, and 2 Peter 2 are understood to describe unlawful interactions between fallen angels and humanity that resulted in the corruption of God’s created order. The following discussion reflects our understanding of these passages and their potential implications for evaluating contemporary claims involving alleged non-human experimentation and hybridization.

The possibility of “Non-human/alien-human experimentation or hybridization”? Biblically speaking, fallen angels hybridizing with humans occurred both before and after the Flood.[xii] This, however, was a direct violation of God’s cosmological structure, where angels violated their natural domain (see Jude 1:6 and 2 Peter 2:4) and “took for themselves wives from all whom they chose” (Genesis 6:2) (indicating a likely one-way relationship with involuntary women). The Bible does not provide the grounds for this happening the other way around, where humans would be involved in the intentional “mixing” inter-dimensional beings in any way with humans.

At least three government officials have alluded to this practice or similar happening in our present day,[xiii] with one attributing this reality to what she’s been exposed to in classified briefings and the other being briefed by government officials regarding this practice. Congressman Tim Burchett, in particular, declined to comment and responded by stating, “I’ve been briefed by just about every alphabet agency there is, and I’ll just tell you this: if they would release the things that I’ve seen, you’d be up at night worrying about or thinking about this stuff.”

While such statements from government officials and other public figures warrant thoughtful consideration and careful investigation, we should be careful not to conclude that they constitute definitive proof that the alleged events have actually occurred. Much of the information presently available consists of testimony concerning classified briefings, secondhand reports, or evidence that has not been made publicly available for independent examination. We must resist the temptation to draw conclusions based upon testimony alone. It is true that Scripture provides theological categories within which such claims can be evaluated. Regardless, we should be cautious not to allow contemporary claims or disclosure narratives to drive our interpretation or application of Scripture. Rather, Scripture must remain the lens through which all such claims are evaluated. Believers should therefore continue to examine these reports—and any future claims—with discernment, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the authority of God’s Word over speculation, sensationalism, or popular opinion.

Is it Possible that Christians will be Raptured and their Departure Blamed on an “Alien Abduction”?

Yes.

Christians differ on the timing and details of end-times events, but this scenario remains possible. If a vast number of people were suddenly missing from Earth in the future, some could interpret the event as an alien abduction, potentially accelerating the rise of global monetary, political, and social control systems as foretold in Scripture. Popular media has increasingly normalized concepts involving alien abductions, interdimensional beings, and non-human intelligences. Consequently, if a large number of individuals were to disappear unexpectedly, it is conceivable that some segments of society might attribute such an event to alien intervention rather than divine activity.
